What happens when you visit

The purpose of NemIP.dk is to show you information about your own internet connection. To do that we process your IP address while you are on the site. The legal basis is legitimate interest (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)) — showing you your IP is not possible without processing it.

• No cookies — the site sets no cookies and uses neither sessions nor analytics. Your choice of colour theme is the only thing stored locally in your browser, and it is never sent to us.
• No visit log — we do not record when or how often you visit. Details about your browser, screen and language are shown locally in your own browser and are never sent to us.
• Anonymous statistics — we count page views per day without cookies. To distinguish unique visitors we derive a hash from your IP address and browser type using a secret key that changes every day. The hash cannot be traced back to you, it is deleted after two days, and your IP address is not part of the statistics.
• Technical lookup cache — information about your IP address’ provider and approximate location may be stored for up to 30 days so repeated lookups do not require new external calls. The cache holds no visit timestamps.
• Server log — like every web server, ours keeps a technical error and access log containing IP address and browser type. It is deleted automatically after 14 days and is used only for operations and troubleshooting.

Third parties

• ipdata.co — your IP address is sent to the lookup service ipdata.co to determine provider, location and threat status. See their privacy policy.
• Cloudflare — the speed test runs directly from your browser against Cloudflare’s network using their open source measurement engine. Cloudflare therefore receives your IP address and stores the results for aggregated statistics. See their privacy policy.
• Blocklist check — your IP address is looked up in public DNS blocklists (e.g. Spamhaus) via ordinary DNS queries.

Your rights

You may request access to or deletion of information linked to your IP address (in practice: the cache entry and the server log rows, until they are deleted automatically). You may also lodge a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency. Contact: .
